The von Mandl family began their journey over 40 years ago. The first sign of the real potential of the vineyards came in 1994 with a surprise win at the International Wine & Spirit Competition in London for ‘Top Chardonnay in the World.’ The family has developed exceptional vineyards with distinctive Chardonnay and Merlot clones.

A Senior Brand Ambassador will lead you on this tour. It begins in the History Room, where you’ll see an overview of the South Okanagan and explore historic vineyards on the Black Sage Bench, the Golden Mile, and the Similkameen Valley. From there, you’ll experience our curated art installations and learn about our commitment to natural and biodynamic farming. You’ll then venture into the winery to see all the wonders of our unforgettable winemaking process.

Hidden between the rows of Jagged Rock Vineyard is a beautiful, striking Red Barn designed by Tom Kundig. The barn sits at the end of a dirt road, surrounded by a rugged rock-face and lush vines. Like the wines themselves, the building is a clash of the traditional and unconventional. It’s beautifully jarring. 

Each harvest we invite one winemaker to work with this vineyard and shepherd this fruit from berry to bottle. 

French Door Estate Winery is a family owned and operated winery and vineyard. Founded in 2019.

This winery was established with a passion for quality wine. Our 10-acre property is planted with 100% vinifera vines on beautiful, expressive soils that have resulted in rich, lush, and character driven wines.

The goal of our winery is to create honest, low-intervention wine, from sustainably grown grapes, in a classic old-world French style.
